Dr. Eugene Sia 
MBChB, FRNZCGP, Cert Nutritional and Environmental Medicine

Originally from Malaysia , Eugene arrived in Christchurch in 1997 and studied at Burnside High School. Eugene pursued his medical degree at University of Otago and graduated in 2003. Eugene has been in general practice since 2007 and obtained his RNZCGP fellowship in 2011. Eugene has a broad experience in all aspects of general practice.

Eugene is married to Evelyn and they are blessed with 2 wonderful boys. In his free time, Eugene enjoys watching movies, and reading.

 


Dr. Evelyn Pui 
MBChB, FRNZCGP, Dip Child Health

Evelyn is originally from Malaysia and moved to New Zealand with her family in 1994. Evelyn completed her medical degree and graduated from the University of Otago in 2002. Evelyn has been in general practice since 2007 and enjoys all aspects of general practice, especially meeting and getting to know people from all walks of life. Evelyns special interests are women’s and children’s health.

While not at work, Evelyn enjoys spending time with her family, going for walks and playing the piano.

 


Dr. Josephine Chew 
MBChB

Josephine is originally from Malaysia. Josephine graduated from University of Otago Medical School in 2012 and worked in Christchurch Hospital for a number of years and has gained extensive experience working as a medical registrar before she joined general practice in 2018. Prior to Inspire Health Medical Practice, Josephine worked as a GP registrar at Moorhouse Medical Centre & Belfast Medical Medical Practice.

Josephine has a special interest in Geriatric Medicine and  is multi-lingual and can communicate in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. In her free time, Josephine enjoys hiking and zumba workouts.


Dr. Timothy Wong
MBChB

Originally from East Malaysia, Timothy came to Christchurch in 2006 and attended Riccarton High School. Timothy then completed his medical degree in Dunedin at Otago University and came back to Christchurch to work, initially in the public hospital and now as a GP registrar. Timothy has an interest in different cultures and languages, and can speak English, Mandarin, Malay, French and Japanese.

Timothy also enjoys video gaming and travelling abroad. Timothy enjoys getting to know people and where they are from and is always open for a chat.

 


Dr. Ben Chang

MBChB, FRNZCGP, Dip Cosmetic Medicine, PGCert Civil Aviation Medicine

Ben is originally from Malaysia and moved to Christchurch in 1997. Ben obtained his medical degree from University of Otago in 2006. Ben has worked in general practice since 2010 and is a fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

When not working as a GP, Ben operates at BeYoutiful here at Yaldhurst Medical, as a cosmetic injector and aviation medical examiner. He has completed the Diploma in Cosmetic Medicine and is an accredited doctor with the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine.

Ben has also completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Civil Aviation Medicine. He is a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA NZ) designated medical examiner for all classes (1,2 and 3).

Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his family and playing badminton.

 


Dr. Jeremy Baker
MbChB, FRNZCGP, MTh

Jeremy graduated in medicine from Otago University in 1981. He has been a general practitioner with a special interest in mental health since that time. Jeremy has worked extensively in building projects to improve mental health in primary and community care, including with Pegasus Health PHO, and with churches throughout New Zealand. Jeremy is also a senior lecturer at Otago University (Christchurch Medical School), and a medical educator for the Royal NZ College of GPs.

Jeremy has a fellowship from the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners, a Masters degree in theology/psychology from Laidlaw College, Auckland, and is currently undertaking doctoral studies with the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Jeremy is focusing on the effects of psychological trauma in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquakes, and the churches response to this.

Jeremy is married to Yvie Ruth and has four children and four grandchildren.


Sharon Tay
Nurse Manager

Sharon Tay is an experienced multilingual nurse who speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Teochew and Hokkien dialects. Originally from Singapore, she began her nursing career in 1977 and obtained her Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) in Western Australia and Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Health Care with University of Otago. She has broad experience in healthcare industry and has a special interest in nutrition after obtaining Bachelor of Science in Holistic Nutrition.

She enjoys all aspects of Practice Nursing and is a facilitator for Appetite For Life programme which promotes healthy lifestyle choices. Outside of work, she enjoys keeping fit, reading, spending time with family and friends.


Jocelyn Chan
Practice Nurse

Born and raised in Hong Kong, China, Jocelyn came to Christchurch to study Nursing at CPIT and completed her Bachelor degree in June 2009. She worked in Christchurch Public Hospital for over nine and a half years in various areas including stroke, general medicine, general surgery with abdominal focus. She decided to embark her journey into practice nursing and joined Inspire Health as a part-timer since July 2018. She’s able to speak English, Mandarin and Hong Kong Cantonese.

Away from work, she enjoys raising her three children and trying new recipes.

 


Eva Liu
Practice Nurse

Born and raised in southwest China, Eva came to New Zealand in 2015. She joined Inspire Health upon graduation from Ara Institute of Canterbury in 2021. She enjoys looking after health consumers and their whānau in community settings. She speaks English and Mandarin.

In her spare time, she loves walking and playing with her little corgi.

 

 

 


 

Luraine Potgieter
Practice Nurse

Born and raised in South Africa. Luraine emigrated to New Zealand (Christchurch) in 2016 with her husband and 2 daughters. She later gained an addition to the family in 2020 and became mum of 3 girls. During that time, she completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree in 2020 at ARA Institute of Canterbury (CPIT).

After graduating, she joined the Managed Isolation and Quarantine workforce in January 2021 as a nurse. She has gained experience in family health and wellbeing, which initiated her interest in Practice Nursing. Since joining Inspire Health in May 2022, she is enjoying supporting families in their health in congruence with the wonderful team of Inspire Health. Luraine speaks English and Afrikaans.

In her free time, she loves spending time with family and friends.

Kris joined the clinic in March 2023 having previously been at Health Improvement Group in Auckland. Kris joins us with experience from a variety of industries around New Zealand and in the UK, from legal practice management through Agricultural surveying and IT Change Management at the BBC.

Outside of work Kris enjoys tennis, mountain biking and Model Cars.

 

 

 

 


Doris Chua
Practice Manager

Doris was born in Malaysia and moved to New Zealand in her primary school years. She grew up in Christchurch and graduated from the University of Canterbury. Doris has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the healthcare industry, having worked in primary health care for almost 20 years.

Outside of work Doris enjoys aerial yoga, gym, tennis and spending time with family and friends.
